Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

My goodness....where has the year gone?   Hanukkah will begin on December 8th and continue thru December 16th.   When Kattrina, my 33 year old daughter, was 10 years old she had a friend named Julia Rosenthal.    I'll never forget Kattrina running home one day and declaring that she wanted to be Jewish so that she could receive gifts 8 days in a row....just like Julia!    This was her first introduction to the Jewish faith and we enjoyed listening to Julia tell about the Jewish holidays and traditions.  It seems like just yesterday.

Christmas is an exciting time in the Mountains.  One of the Highlights of the Season is the annual Winter Wonderland in Downtown Franklin.  This year it's being held on Friday, December 7th from 5:00 - 9:00 pm.  Here's a glimpse of last year's festivities

There will be Wagon Rides, Ice Slides, Storytelling, Shopping, Festive Food and Holiday Music performed by the Smoky Mountain Brass Quartet.   It's a great time for all ages.

November Home sales in Franklin and Otto, NC continue to grow.   2012 home sales thru November were 305 as compared to 281 for the same period in 2011, resulting in an 8.5% increase in the number of homes sold this year.  Mortgage rates of 3.5% for a 30 year fixed loan and 2.65% for a 15 year fixed loan are still common.   The influx of Foreclosures appearing on the market has slowed and average selling prices have leveled off.

As my mentor, Zig Ziglar, who passed away this week, always said, "You can have everything in life you want as long as you help enough people get what they want".
