Franklin and Otto, NC Fall Update
September 18, 2012
The U.S. Open Tennis Tournament has just finished in New York. Not to be outdone, Franklin has its own Tennis Tournament sponsored by the Mountain Tennis Association (MTA) on Sept. 21-23. Andy Murray and Serena Williams bowed out as they were just "too tired" after their wins in New York to participate...but we don't need them anyway. We have our own talent from this area and as far away as Atlanta.
There are men's, women's and mixed doubles competition and we have room for more entrants. Contact Ross Dodge 828-349-0349 or 828-371-3280 if you are interested in playing.
Fall is here and the time is right "For Dancin in the Streets"! The average high temp this past week was 78. Can you say --- PERFECT?
Speaking of "Dancin", Check out Franklin NC's own "FlashMob" that took place this past July! This was during Street Fest on July 13, 2012.
Put on your "Dancin Shoes" and join us for the next Street Fest on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm in Downtown Franklin. The bands rock, the shops and restaurants are open and from first-hand experience --- It's Awesome!
One of Franklin's most popular events, the 16th Annual Pumpkinfest is October 19-20! If you've attended in past years...you'll be back. If you haven't, this is your year to attend! A wonderful variety of crafters and vendors is expected. The Pumpkin Roll down the Frogtown Hill is the funniest thing you've ever seen. Wear your costumes, win prizes, listen to some cool music, and get ready for a good time! Check out the fun we had last year at the 2011 Pumpkinfest.
From January 1, 2012 thru Septemer 17, 2012, 236 homes were sold in Franklin and Otto as compared to 217 for the same period in 2011. That's an 8.75% increase in the number of homes sold. The average sales price for 2012 is $125,947 and in 2011 it was $126,274. That's less than a 1% decrease and a clear indication that home prices are leveling out. There are currently 644 homes for sale in our area.
Interest rates have never been lower. Less than 4% for a 30 year fixed rate and below 3% for a 15 year loan. If you know someone who is thinking about buying, now is the time before prices and rates start going up.
