Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

As I begin this last Blog of 2013, I have a huge grin on my face.  Boy, being so blessed to live and work in these "storybook mountains" is something I will never take for granted.   We live south of Franklin in what my husband, Danny calls "The Metropolis of Otto".  As I drive north up Hwy. 441 each day, I am in awe at all there is to see on my short northern journey.  To my right is gorgeous Clark's Chapel, to my left is Albert Mountain.  When I reach the 441 Bypass Intersection and look to the west....I see Wayah Bald and to the north are Cowee Mountains.  There's not a bad seat in the house.

The Great Polar Express in Bryson City

One of the most anticipated holiday events, this 1¼ hour round-trip excursion comes to life as the train departs the Bryson City, NC depot for a journey through the quiet wilderness for a special visit at the North Pole.  Guests on board will enjoy hot cocoa and a special treat.  Children’s faces reflect the magic of the season when the train arrives at the “North Pole” to find Santa Claus waiting. Santa will board THE POLAR EXPRESS, greeting each child and presenting them with a special gift - their own silver sleigh bell - just as in the Polar Express story. Christmas carols will be sung as they return back to the Bryson City Depot. THE POLAR EXPRESS begins November 8th and operates through December 29th.  For details and hours of operation go here:  Polar Express Info
